A very merry Princess Party!

Camille's 5th birthday isn't until March 1, but our weekends have filled up so fast that we needed to celebrate it yesterday, Sat. Feb. 20. She wanted a princess party so here are some of the highlights:

We hand delivered rolled scroll like invitations to each little girl. On the invite it read:

Once upon a time there was a princess named Camille
Who wanted to celebrate her 5th birthday with
The princesses in the surrounding kindoms.
The King and Queen from the Mosteller Kingdom
Invite your little princess to attend to royal party.
Your princess is welcome to wear her
favorite dress up costume.
On Saturday, the 20th day of February, 2010
Festivities from 1:00-3:00

On the day of the party all of the family dressed up. I found some old prom dresses/bridesmaid dresses at Goodwill. They fit Camille's requirement of being long, puffy, and mostly pink. Carter wore his suit and Brad found a blue colonial type costume with powdered wig, nickers and black buckle shoes. Brad stood by the door and very offically announced the girls as they arrived. Such as... Now welcoming princess Sydney. And then some of my kids stood upstairs on the landing and clapped for them. It was all very offical and fun for them. The girls arrived in their dresses and we played games to start off. First as a we awaited everyones arrival the girls made necklaces with beads and yarn. Our games were all themed after a princess and we had that princess' music playing in the background.

Snow White: Instead of pin the tail on the donkey it was pin the kiss on Snow White. I had a big wall hanging with all the princesses on it and luckily snow white was near the bottom; I cut out red lips, blindfolded the girls and played 'pin the kiss on Snow white'.
Cinderella: A version of 'hot potato' but with a cinderella dress up shoe of Camilles.
Jasmine: Had pastel felt squares in a cirlce with songs from Jasmine/ Aladdin playing in the background and it was like musical chairs.
Belle: They played freeze dance to Belle music. While the music played the girls danced and then when the music stopped the girls had to freeze.
Ariel: I made a fishing pole with a dowel rod, yarn and magnet, then attached paper clips to plastic forks and the girls "fished for dinglehoppers".
Sleeping Beauty: A version of Duck, Duck, Goose but we changed it to Pink, Pink, Blue. If you remeber the movie the fairies were fighting over whether the dress should be pink or blue.

As we were waiting for parents to come and pick up we played Fairy Godmother Says.... (our version of Simon Says).

Camille had a pink and purple castle cake and mint choc. chip ice cream and we had lots of pink and purple balloons. We ate on princess plates and cups with a pink table cloth decorated with heart candies and Hershey kisses. I also found flowers on Valentine clearance for a center piece.
For treat bags: a ring, braclet, heart pencil, heart shaped candy (found on Valentines clearance), lip gloss, hair clips, and I made a choc. rose for each of them.
